Studiocanal Expands to New York City with Focus on American Distribution Partners

Studiocanal, a Paris-based production-distribution house, is making a significant move by launching an office in New York City. This expansion is a strategic decision aimed at increasing collaboration with American distribution partners. This new office will be overseen by Anne Chérel, who has been promoted to the role of Chief Commercial Officer.

The decision to open an office in NYC forms part of Studiocanal’s broader strategy to combine distribution and global sales for all of its film projects. This approach involves working closely with third-party distributors to strengthen the reach and impact of their films in the market. The company is already engaged in partnerships with major American studios for various projects, including the upcoming Paddington movie with Sony Pictures and Back to Black with Focus Features.

In addition to the launch of the NYC office, Studiocanal has recently undergone several executive-level changes. Dominique Jubin has been appointed as Head of French Drama at Ciné+ OCS, while Isabelle Pain has joined as Head of Global Acquisitions & Analytics. Sara Reese Geffroy has also been brought in as SVP of Studiocanal Stories label and TV series development. These changes reflect the company’s commitment to expanding its presence and diversifying its portfolio in the global market.

Anne Chérel’s promotion to Chief Commercial Officer comes as a recognition of her contributions to Studiocanal over the years. She will be reporting to Canal+ Group Deputy CEO and Studiocanal CEO Anna Marsh. In her new role, Chérel will not only oversee the NYC office but also continue to manage global distribution operations. Her extensive experience in international distribution, combined with her leadership skills, makes her a valuable asset to the company.

Studiocanal’s expansion to New York City represents a significant milestone in its growth trajectory. By establishing a presence in the Big Apple and strengthening ties with American partners, the company is poised to enhance its position in the competitive film industry. With a focus on collaboration, innovation, and strategic partnerships, Studiocanal is well-positioned to achieve success in the global market.
