Box office sales for the previous week were up by a significant 7%, showing a strong demand for theater tickets. With a total of 35 shows on the Great White Way, the total gross was a staggering $36,011,651 for the week ending June 9. This marks a substantial 16% increase over the previous season at this time.

Nine shows achieved the coveted status of selling out, with two of the most nominated productions leading the pack. Stereophonic and Hell’s Kitchen, each nominated in 13 categories for the upcoming Tony Awards, had impressive grosses of $872,337 and $1,638,208, respectively. Furthermore, the average ticket price for these two musicals exceeded $200, indicating a strong willingness from audiences to pay top dollar for quality entertainment.

It’s worth noting that while the overall average ticket price for the shows hovered around $140, some productions commanded significantly higher prices. In particular, Merrily We Roll Along and Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club stood out with average ticket prices well above the norm. Merrily grossed $1,762,019, boasting the week’s highest average ticket price of $228, while Cabaret took in $1,899,832 at an average ticket price of $222.28.

Beyond the big sellers, other shows also had strong showings at the box office. Productions like An Enemy of the People, Hadestown, Hamilton, Mother Play, and The Outsiders all attracted significant audiences, contributing to the overall success of Broadway during this period. Additionally, recent arrivals like Home and Ben Platt: Live at the Palace made their mark, showcasing diverse offerings to theater enthusiasts.

As the season progresses, Broadway’s total gross has now reached an impressive $104,969,902, with total attendance at 858,581.
