CBS Orders New Pilot “Einstein” as Part of Long-Term Development Strategy

CBS is continuing to implement its long-term development strategy by ordering a new pilot for the 2025-26 broadcast season. The network has greenlit the drama “Einstein” (working title), created and executive produced by Andy Breckman and Randy Zisk, known for their work on “Monk.”

The Plot

The show follows the life of the great-grandson of Albert Einstein, a brilliant but directionless individual who finds himself in trouble with the law due to his rebellious behavior. He is then recruited to help a local police detective solve complex cases, drawing parallels to other successful procedural dramas like “Monk” and “Numbers.”

This is not the first time that CBS has attempted to adapt the German procedural “Einstein” for American audiences. Previous attempts at creating a U.S. version of the show have been made, but it seems that the network is finally moving forward with this latest iteration.

Behind the Scenes

The pilot for “Einstein” has been written by Andy Breckman, with Randy Zisk set to direct. They will also serve as executive producers alongside Tariq Jalil, Rose Hughes, Rodrigo Herrera Ibarguengoytia, and Laura Beetz. Tariq Jalil has been leading the charge to bring the Red Arrow format to the U.S. for the past six years.

CBS announced a shift in its development strategy earlier this year, opting to forego the traditional pilot season window. Instead, the network is focusing on ordering pilots and development rooms more than a year in advance to allow for longer production lead times and better marketing opportunities.

With “Einstein” joining the ranks of other new scripted series set to premiere in the 2025-26 season, CBS is positioning itself for success in the ever-evolving television landscape. By taking a more proactive approach to development and production, the network is ensuring that its content is well-prepared for launch.

CBS’s decision to order a pilot for “Einstein” is just one step in its long-term development strategy. With a talented team behind the project and a strong lineup of new shows on the horizon, the network is poised for continued success in the future.
