Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury has officially announced the renewal of Game Show Network’s People Puzzler for a second season in national broadcast syndication. Hosted by Leah Remini, the pop culture game show is expected to make a comeback this fall. The show has received renewals on various major networks such as Fox Television Stations, Sinclair, CBS, Nexstar, Gray, and Scripps stations, collectively covering more than 90% of the U.S. This decision comes on the heels of People Puzzler achieving a viewership milestone, surpassing 900,000 viewers, marking a significant 42% increase from its syndication premiere in September. It is also worth noting that People Puzzler stands as one of Game Show Network’s highest-rated original series.
Executives’ Statements
Debmar-Mercury Co-Presidents Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein expressed their enthusiasm regarding the show’s growing success, commenting, “The healthy ratings growth we’ve seen from People Puzzler in its first months in syndication has been nothing short of remarkable. Stations are hungry for proven performers and we are excited to be able to bring this winning game show back to the market next season.” Their positive outlook on the show’s future speaks volumes about the impact it has made and continues to make in the world of syndicated television programming.
People Puzzler draws inspiration from the iconic crossword puzzles featured in the well-known magazine, People. The game show masterfully blends elements of pop culture with intriguing fun facts to create an engaging and entertaining experience for viewers. Contestants are faced with a three-round battle, each round testing their knowledge of popular culture. The contestant who accumulates the most points throughout the rounds advances to the highly coveted “Fast Puzzle Bonus Round,” where they have the chance to win a cash prize. This unique format keeps the audience hooked and eager to see who will emerge victorious in the end.
The production of People Puzzler is a collaborative effort involving Game Show Enterprises Studios, Start Entertainment, and People, a Dotdash Meredith brand. Leah Remini not only serves as the charming host of the show but also takes on the role of an executive producer alongside Rane Laymance and Scott St.
