The English-language adaptation of the beloved fantasy book “Momo” by Michael Ende, author of “The Neverending Story,” has recently announced its star-studded cast. Alexa Goodall, known for her role in “A Gentleman In Moscow,” has landed the lead role of the young orphan girl Momo. Joining her are acclaimed actors such as Araloyin Oshunremi, Kim Bodnia, Claes Bang, Laura Haddock, Jennifer Amaka Peterson, David Shütter, and Martin Freeman.

The film, currently being filmed in Croatia and Slovenia, is being produced by Christian Becker, a prolific German producer known for his work on films like “The Wave” and “Fuck You, Goethe.” The script and direction are in the capable hands of bilingual writer-director Christian Ditter, who secured the rights to the popular novel a few years ago in an under-the-radar deal. The international bestseller, translated into over 50 languages and selling more than 13 million copies worldwide, has captured the hearts of readers across the globe.

“Momo” follows the story of a young orphan girl who befriends everyone in her neighborhood while living in the ruins of an old Roman amphitheater. However, when a powerful corporation begins stealing people’s time, Momo and the custodian of time, Master Hora, must join forces to stop the time thieves before it’s too late. The tale explores themes of friendship, community, and the importance of time in a captivating and imaginative way.

Produced by Rat Pack FilmProduction in collaboration with Constantin Film Production and Westside Filmproduction, “Momo” is set to be distributed in German-speaking territories by Constantin. Rocket Science will handle international sales rights for the rest of the world and showcase the film at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival. With support from funding sources like FFF Bavarian Filmfund, MBB Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, and FFA Federal Film Funding, the production promises to deliver a visually stunning and emotionally resonant adaptation of the beloved novel.
