Ego Nwodim Lands Lead Role in New Peacock Comedy Series

Saturday Night Live star Ego Nwodim has recently been announced as the female lead in the upcoming single-camera Peacock comedy series titled Mr. Throwback. This exciting news has left fans eager to see Nwodim take on a new role outside of her regular sketch comedy duties on SNL.

The Plot of Mr. Throwback:

The show, created by David Caspe, revolves around the character of Danny, played by Adam Pally, who is a struggling memorabilia dealer looking for a fresh start. He decides to reconnect with his former sixth-grade basketball teammate, NBA star Steph Curry. Nwodim’s character, Kimberly, is described as Steph’s childhood friend, business partner, and overall handler. As the trio navigates their past and present relationships, viewers can expect to see plenty of comedic moments and heartwarming interactions.

David Wain, known for his work on “Wet Hot American Summer,” will be directing all six episodes of the series as well as serving as an executive producer. The show will also feature writing duo Matthew Libman and Daniel Libman, along with contributions from Pally and Curry themselves. With a talented lineup both on and off the screen, Mr. Throwback is shaping up to be a must-watch comedy series.

Ego Nwodim’s role in Mr. Throwback comes on the heels of her successful six-season run on Saturday Night Live. Known for her memorable impressions and characters, such as Dionne Warwick and Lisa From Temecula, Nwodim has proven herself to be a versatile and talented performer. Her recent NAACP Image Award nomination further solidifies her status as a rising star in the entertainment industry.

Nwodim is not the first SNL cast member to explore opportunities outside of the late-night sketch comedy show. With actors like Kenan Thompson, Aidy Bryant, and Cecily Strong finding success in primetime television and film, Nwodim is following in the footsteps of her talented colleagues. Her diverse range of credits in both television and film showcases her ability to tackle a variety of roles with ease.

Ego Nwodim’s casting in Mr. Throwback is a testament to her growing popularity and talent in the entertainment industry. As she continues to juggle her responsibilities on Saturday Night Live with new projects like this comedy series, fans can expect to see even more of her dynamic performances on their screens in the future.
